This woman was furious that land in her village along the river was allegedly controlled by land brokers in East Kalimantan on Friday (September 19th).
This woman went viral on social media after storming the East Kalimantan Regent’s office.
She was even assertive when conveying her aspirations to local government staff and employees.
She even cursed at East Kalimantan Regency government officials, claiming her land had been seized by land brokers.
“We are adults, we also have the right to a decent life like civil servants, civil servants, and other officials. Don’t lie to us anymore. Our land is being seized, and they often use the government’s name,” said Dina, the head of the mediation group who was persecuted.
According to her, we have lived here for decades, passed down to our great-grandchildren.
Now our land has been seized, and we cannot accept it.
We are indigenous people of East Kalimantan, and this woman is of Sulawesi descent (Muna, if I’m not mistaken).
Those who feel they are East Kalimantan, please raise your hand.
Dina, a resident of East Kalimantan, said she demands that the government be professional regarding the housing controlled by PT. PTN.
Around 10,000 families are homeless.
It is suspected that the land is controlled by a group of landowners acting on behalf of PT. PTN.
“They promised to normalize the river to match our housing, but by 2025, where is their promise?” she asked.
According to Rahma (45), a resident, if the normalization project were to take place, their homes would continue to flood, and residents would even be evicted.
About 10 years ago, she promised to normalize the land so her village would be safe from flooding.
It turns out that was just a lie.
“Now, around 1,000 families are asking the government to return their land, which they have owned for the past 10 years,” Rahma said.
