The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have successfully uncovered an illegal narcotics laboratory operating covertly in the Greenbay Apartments area, Pluit, North Jakarta.

In an early 2026 breakthrough, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested two suspects involved in an international narcotics network.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Investigation Directorate, during a raid on a clandestine etomidate narcotics laboratory in the Greenbay Apartments area, Pluit, North Jakarta, arrested two suspects, an Indonesian citizen and a Chinese citizen.

In the raid, two individuals were named as suspects, one of whom is a foreign national from China.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Investigation Directorate conducted the raid after receiving information from Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs regarding a suspicious international package.

The package was sent via an international courier service and addressed to the Tower H Lobby of the Greenbay Apartments.

Following up on the report, the Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate, AKBP Parikhesit, ordered his team to conduct an in-depth investigation and surveillance.

As a result, on Friday, January 9, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM WIB, officers successfully arrested two suspects identified as D, an Indonesian citizen, and HW, a Chinese citizen.

“Officers have arrested two suspects, D, an Indonesian citizen, and HW, a Chinese citizen,” said AKBP Parikhesit in an official statement on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

During a search of the location, police confiscated several pieces of evidence, including a FedEx package containing 100 grams of etomidate, one kilogram of the chemical SLS, and various laboratory equipment.

These items included large and small-capacity test tubes, laboratory bottles, glass stirrers, digital scales, syringes, and a stainless steel boiler.

The investigation revealed that the illegal laboratory equipment and raw materials were shipped from India.

HW was known to have played a key role in the production of etomidate liquid in the clandestine laboratory.

According to police estimates, the illegal facility had the potential to produce up to 30 liters of etomidate liquid.

“Judging by the amount of material seized, this laboratory is estimated to be capable of producing around 30 liters of etomidate.

Fortunately, before it could operate and the product reached the public, we thwarted this activity,” explained Parikhesit.

Currently, the two suspects and all evidence have been secured at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters for further investigation and development.
