An L300 box truck carrying ink collided with a metal gate at the Rawakucing Bridge from Sepatan heading towards Koto Tangerang, Thursday (July 10th).
The gate was installed by the Tangerang Regency Transportation Agency almost a month ago, after the National Police Chief instructed the removal of thugs.
Iskandar, the driver of the L300 truck with license plate number A 8534 VB, was traveling from Bayur Sepatan and immediately turned right.
“I didn’t know there was a metal gate because I was looking at Google on my phone. I was going to France,” Iskandar said. “The car was still standard, with a height of 210 meters.”
Iskandar was unaware of the bridge where the gate was installed by the Transportation Agency.
“There were no signs, sir,” Iskandar defended himself when questioned by members of the Tangerang Regency Transportation Agency.
“If the gate is 220 meters high, cars should be able to pass. There should be a sign, sir,” said the L300 driver, excusing himself.
My car is stuck on the front hood. The gate is estimated to be 2.7 meters high. If it were standard, it would have passed, said a Transportation Agency officer at the scene.
Meanwhile, the police officers at the scene were busy looking at the stuck car.
The road began to become congested, and the police on site could only facilitate the flow of traffic from Tangerang towards Sepatan.
Shortly after, a forklift from the company arrived and lifted the metal gate that had fallen on the car. After the metal gate was moved aside, traffic flowed smoothly.
Previously, the Bayur Bridge was guarded by dozens of thugs at the entrance from Neglasari, Tangerang City, to Sepatan, Tangerang Regency, and vice versa.
Every vehicle passing the Kedaung Bridge had to pay a fee to the thugs who had controlled the bridge for years. After the thugs were cleared and the road was divided into two directions, traffic flowed smoothly.
