Tangerang City Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Uncovers Illegal Lobster Seed Management Practices.

The Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) successfully uncovered a case of alleged illegal sale of sand lobster seeds (BBL) on Thursday (December 25, 2025).

The case was uncovered by Unit 4 of the Special Crimes Unit of the Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, led by AKP Rahis Fadhlillah, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., M.H., and Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Awaludin Kanur, S.I.K., M.H., based on information from the public regarding suspicious activity in the illegal management of BBL.

The case was uncovered at the Duta Gardenia Complex in the Mediterania Cluster, Jurumudi Village, Benda District, Tangerang City, at around 1:00 PM WIB.

In the investigation, officers arrested two suspected perpetrators, identified as AA (31) and AR (29).

The two were found processing lobster seeds without proper permits, which were intended for shipment to Singapore.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Dr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si., explained that the perpetrators are suspected of violating fisheries crime regulations.

“From the results of an on-site inspection, we found thousands of sand lobster seeds without proper documentation.

We successfully secured a total of approximately 30,000 lobster seeds,” explained Senior Commissioner Jauhari.

In addition to the seeds, our personnel also seized several pieces of supporting evidence, including four suitcases, oxygen tanks, and cell phones.

Bank books and other equipment suspected of being used in the illegal sale and distribution of lobster seeds.

“This disclosure demonstrates the Tangerang City Metro Police’s commitment to supporting efforts to protect marine and fisheries resources and taking firm action against illegal practices that harm the state,” he added.

Currently, the Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit is conducting a case review, completing the investigation process, and coordinating with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

Further handling will be carried out in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

For their actions, the suspects are suspected of violating Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph (1) and/or Article 88 in conjunction with Article 16 paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries.

As amended in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation, the penalty is up to eight years in prison, with state losses reaching 3.3 billion rupiah.
