The Tangerang Regency Government (Pemkab) held an emergency coordination meeting with all elements of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).

Led by Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid, in the Wareng Meeting Room, Tangerang Regent’s Building, on Tuesday (11/18/25).

The meeting discussed preparations, mitigation measures, and anticipation for extreme weather at the end of 2025.

All elements of Forkopimda, sub-district heads, the Social Service, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Tangerang Regency Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK), and the Regional 2 MKG Center attended the meeting.

Among other things, the meeting discussed mitigation measures, water channel cleaning, flood mitigation, standardized perceptions, and evacuation site readiness.

In the meeting, Regent Maesyal Rasyid requested that all regional leaders and their staff immediately take steps to anticipate hydrometeorological disasters.

Such as floods and landslides, which have the potential to occur more frequently this year.

Nineteen sub-districts are categorized as vulnerable during heavy, prolonged rain.

“This is a routine activity every time the rainy or dry season begins.

We are consolidating, preparing, and formulating a disaster preparedness program,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.

He added that one of the initial anticipatory measures taken is coordinating with sub-district heads to initiate routine community service activities every Friday.

This step also serves as a preventative measure in the face of increasingly frequent and heavy rainfall.

“Sub-district heads are requested to urge their residents to participate in community service every Friday.

We have also prepared evacuation sites for areas frequently affected by flooding,” he added.

In addition to flooding, the local government is also mapping areas prone to landslides and other hydrometeorological disasters.

Regent Maesyal also emphasized that all regions, both north and south, should be on alert because rain has begun to spread evenly across the regency.

“This means we are looking at it comprehensively. All regions must be prepared.

We have asked the sub-district heads and relevant regional government agencies to increase their preparedness,” he explained.

On the same occasion, Ana Oktavia Sejawati, Head of the Meteorology and Climatology Working Team for MKG Region II, explained that this year’s climate patterns are quite different from previous years.

“The 2025 dry season will be short, while the rainy season will arrive sooner, especially in the southern part of Tangerang Regency, compared to the previous year’s dry season,” she explained.

Ana emphasized that the current transitional phase is the most vulnerable period.

The potential for extreme weather, such as heavy rainfall, strong winds, and greater flooding, occurs before the full rainy season begins.

Furthermore, she projects the peak of the rainy season will occur in February 2026, with the possibility of increased extreme weather events, especially in disaster-prone areas.

Therefore, she and regional policymakers can use BMKG information as a basis for developing mitigation measures.

“We urge the public to always monitor weather updates through the official BMKG channel, and local governments to use this information as a basis for disaster risk reduction policies,” she concluded.
