A drug dealer using an online motorcycle taxi service was arrested. The Tangerang City Metro Police, through the Sepatan Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit, successfully uncovered a crime.
One perpetrator was arrested in Tangerang Regency on Wednesday (January 21, 2026) for the abuse and distribution of methamphetamine.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday evening, January 20, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM WIB, in Tanjakan Village, Rajeg District, Tangerang Regency, Banten.
The arrested perpetrator, identified as GS (31), is a resident of Tanjakan Village, Rajeg District, Tangerang Regency.
Officers confiscated two packages of methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 9.51 grams, with an estimated sales value of less than $1,000.
Approximately 14 million rupiah, along with a mobile phone used for communication.
Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Dr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si., explained that the case was solved through information from the public.
In particular, from an online motorcycle taxi driver who became suspicious of a package he received.
“We appreciate the public’s involvement. Information from the online motorcycle taxi driver was key to uncovering the attempted delivery of methamphetamine to the North Jakarta area,” said the Police Chief.
Based on the investigation, the perpetrator was known to have used an online motorcycle taxi service to deliver the methamphetamine package to the Cilincing area of North Jakarta.
However, because the delivery was canceled and the package returned to its original address, officers who had been following him immediately arrested the perpetrator when he retrieved the package.
“We are still uncovering the method of sending narcotics using courier services and online motorcycle taxis. Therefore, we are continuing to increase surveillance and enforcement,” stated the Police Chief.
The perpetrator is currently being held at the Sepatan Police Station for further investigation.
The perpetrator was charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and/or Article 609 paragraph (2) letter (a) of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a serious penalty.
The discovery of 9.51 grams of methamphetamine can be assumed to have saved approximately 95 lives from the dangers of narcotics.
The Tangerang City Metro Police Chief urged the public to continue to play an active role in providing information to the police to prevent and eradicate drug trafficking in their communities.
