A KPK official from the Tangerang Regency District Attorney’s Office, Banten, was arrested in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The official is suspected of accepting bribes in a foreign worker case, Friday (12/19).
He is currently being held at the KPK building, along with two prosecutors from the High Prosecutor’s Office and two lawyers.
The KPK has again conducted a sting operation (OTT) in the Tangerang area.
The sting operation has shocked Banten residents because it is suspected that the arrested individual is a law enforcement officer.
The individual was arrested by the KPK on Wednesday evening (12/17). According to circulating information, the individual is a prosecutor working at the Banten High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati).
He is suspected of being involved in a bribery case involving foreign workers (TKA).
A prosecutor from the General Crimes Division was reportedly caught in a case of extortion or accepting bribes from a lawyer to smooth the way for cases related to permits or foreign workers.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that at least five individuals were arrested in this operation.
However, the official identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.
“Yes, there is a covert investigation. As of last night, the team had arrested five people in the Banten area.
Intensive questioning is currently underway at the KPK’s Red and White Building,” said Budi in a written statement on Thursday (December 18, 2025).
Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Fitroh Rohcahyanto, confirmed that a prosecutor was arrested in a sting operation (OTT) in Banten on Wednesday evening (December 17, 2025).
“As stated by the KPK spokesperson, there was indeed security, and there was a prosecutor,” Fitroh said when contacted by reporters on Thursday (December 18, 2025).
Fitroh stated that the KPK is coordinating with the Attorney General’s Office regarding the arrest of the prosecutor.
“And indeed, there has been coordination with the Attorney General’s Office; we will see the results,” he said.
According to the source, the alleged extortion was handled by the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel).
