Omi, a poor widow living in Mpetan Hamlet, RT 02/08, Buaran Bambu Village, Pakuhaji District, Tangerang Regency, can only accept her situation.
Amidst the pressing economic crisis, she is the family’s breadwinner, selling cut chicken around the village every day, from morning to evening.
However, hope briefly emerged when the village government submitted her name for the central government’s social assistance (bansos) program.
However, instead of receiving assistance, she faced a harsh reality.
“I just found out that the social assistance funds have been disbursed, even though I’ve never received a single rupiah. I’ve never even had an ATM card,” Omi told the media investigation team.
When she asked the RT head about this, she was directed to the Buaran Bambu village office.
There, after checking individual data and transaction receipts from 2022 to 2024, it was confirmed that social assistance funds in Omi’s name had been recorded as being disbursed and transferred to his bank account.
“I was shocked. They said the funds had been disbursed since 2022. But I never received anything,” he continued.
Strangely, it wasn’t until 2025 that Omi received a new ATM card for social assistance disbursements—and even then, it was only disbursed twice.
This huge question hung in the air, raising suspicions that there was foul play behind the disbursement of social assistance funds that never reached the beneficiaries.
Junaedi, a young leader and local man who has been monitoring the case, confirmed that Omi had indeed never received the assistance.
“After checking, there was a difference in the amount that should have been received by the beneficiaries. There’s a strong suspicion that someone deliberately embezzled the social assistance funds.
We have evidence and are ready to testify,” Junaedi asserted.
The investigation team is currently awaiting official clarification from the village and social services.
If no explanation is forthcoming, a report will be submitted to the relevant agencies for legal action and a field inspection.
