Suspected cost inflation has been detected in laptop procurement at the Regional Secretariat.
Tangerang, internasionalpos.com.
There’s been a stir over the Tangerang City Regional Secretariat’s alleged Rp560,057,200 markup on laptop purchases in the 2025 budget, just to repurchase laptops, Thursday (November 20th).
Suspected cost inflation has been detected in laptop procurement at the Regional Secretariat.
Previously, in 2024 and 2023, the Regional Secretariat also squandered state funds solely on laptop purchases.
The Tangerang City Regional Secretariat (Setda) has been in the public spotlight again.
Over the past three years, the institution has been recorded as routinely purchasing computers and laptops, with budgets that have consistently increased year after year.
The Center for Budget Analysis (CBA) considers this spending pattern to be odd and potentially raises suspicions of wasteful practices and markups.
In December 2023, the Tangerang City Regional Secretariat allocated Rp132 million for the procurement of Android tablets.
Then, in November 2024, two significant laptop/computer purchases were made.
The first involved spending Rp 112 million for laptops and computers.
The second involved a similar procurement through the Additional Budget (ABT) for Rp 273.6 million for 16 laptops.
CBA Executive Director, Uchok Sky Khadafi, revealed that spending in 2025 was even more astronomical than the previous two years.
According to him, the Tangerang City Regional Secretariat spent Rp 560,057,200 this year just to repurchase laptops.
“Buying laptops every year is wasteful. This has actually raised suspicion among the Tangerang City community about Mayor Drs. H. H. Sachrudin,” Uchok Sky asserted on Tuesday (November 18, 2025).
Regarding these indications of a recurring and irregular spending pattern, CBA is urging the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to investigate the Tangerang City Regional Secretariat.
Uchok requested that state auditors be involved to trace who received the devices, ensure there were no markups, and verify whether the purchased items actually existed or were fictitious.
“The Attorney General’s Office must collaborate with state auditors to identify who received the laptops, investigate alleged markups, and ensure the purchased laptops actually exist, not fictitious,” concluded Uchok Sky.
