Dismissing the Principal of SMAN 4 Tangerang Regency is a criminalization of the nation’s generation.

Tangerang, internasionalpos.com.
The Tangerang Community Association will hold large-scale demonstrations against the unfair and divisive New Student Admissions Selection (SPMB) on Sunday (July 13th).
Because the process is inconsistent and unbalanced, a group of members of the Community Association will take action.
Dismissing the Principal of SMAN 4 Tangerang Regency is a criminalization of the nation’s generation.
This demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring fair and equitable access to education for all citizens, without discrimination.
This policy is technically regulated in Banten Governor’s Decree No. 162 of 2024, which establishes selection mechanisms through zoning, affirmative action, achievement, and parental transfer.
However, the implementation of the SPMB for the 2025/2026 academic year at SMA Negeri 4 Tangerang Regency has caused unrest in the community.
Many residents near the school have had their children denied admission, even though they are administratively within the zoning area and have met the requirements according to applicable regulations.
Budi Irawan, the protest leader, stated that in accordance with Banten Governor’s Decree No. According to Law No. 162 of 2024, the zoning process is a top priority in the SPMB (Student Selection for Admission) process, aiming to provide equitable access for communities surrounding public schools.
A minimum quota of 50% is allocated for students residing near the school to support educational equity, reduce transportation costs, and minimize discriminatory practices in student admissions.
However, in practice at SMA Negeri 4 Tangerang Regency, many prospective students from the surrounding area were not accepted through the zoning process. The achievement and affirmative action pathways were allegedly non-transparent and did not meet the quota.
“We will hold a demonstration to demand justice for those residents in the surrounding area who are being denied admission to the school. This could be an educational crime perpetrated by an unscrupulous principal,” said Budi Irawan via WhatsApp group.
He stated that there are indications that students from outside the zone are being accepted without a clear basis for their assessment.
This situation not only undermines the community’s sense of justice but also demonstrates weak oversight and implementation of regulations by the school and the Banten Provincial Education Office.
Iwan continued, “In connection with the above issues, we, the community and parents of students from the area surrounding SMA Negeri 4 Tangerang Regency, declare our position and convey the following demands :
Urge the Banten Provincial Government and the Education Office to immediately evaluate and re-examine the SPMB process at SMA Negeri 4 Tangerang Regency thoroughly and transparently.
Demand the reopening of zoning quotas or additional classes to accommodate prospective students from the surrounding area who have been disadvantaged.
Request an independent investigation into allegations of fraud, irregularities in the achievement and affirmative action pathways, and other technical violations in the selection process.
Demand accountability from the principal and SPMB committee of SMA Negeri 4 for the alleged failure to fully and fairly implement the provisions of the Governor’s Decree.
If there is no response or concrete solution within 7 days, we will hold a peaceful demonstration and file an official complaint with:
The Banten Representative Office of the Republic of Indonesia Ombudsman, the National Commission for Child Protection, and the Banten Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD).
The Inspectorate and Law Enforcement Officers (APH) if any elements of an administrative crime are found.
According to Demonstration Representative M. Soleh, we are making this statement as a form of moral responsibility for our children’s right to education.
“We hope for a response and concrete action from the authorities so that this problem does not recur and does not set a bad precedent for public trust in the education system in Banten Province,” said Soleh.
The advancement of civilization lies in the nation’s future generations. The most fundamental aspect is how the state is present to transform civilization. Therefore, education is the barometer for that.
Struggle requires sacrifice; without sacrifice, struggle is worthless. How can our current generation change civilization and encourage children to be the pillars of a nation’s progress?
“If not us, who else, if not now? When will history record our movement as a natural reflection of injustice in the world of education?” he said.
