Tens, even hundreds, of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles are queuing at several gas stations in Tangerang Regency to fill up with subsidized Pertalite fuel.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested intervention due to allegations that subsidized fuel is being dumped.

It is suspected that residents in Tangerang Regency are queuing long at every gas station in Banten.

This fuel shortage has raised questions among the public, particularly regarding the distribution and management of subsidized fuel.

According to information obtained by the media, we suspect that this fuel shortage is caused by Pertamina officials selling subsidized fuel to other industries and businesses.

This means that the fuel is not reaching the rightful recipients, and the public’s needs are being diverted.

“Where has this subsidized gasoline gone?” asked one resident.

The community hopes that the relevant agencies will immediately follow up on this incident and ensure that subsidized fuel reaches its intended target.

“If irregularities are found and individuals are involved, they must be prosecuted immediately in accordance with applicable regulations,” added another resident.

According to the law, the misuse of subsidized fuel is regulated by several laws and regulations, including:

Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, Article 55, which states that anyone who misuses the transportation and/or trade of subsidized fuel can be punished with a maximum of 6 years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion.

Presidential Regulation Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution, and Retail Prices of Fuel, which emphasizes that subsidized fuel may only be used by certain groups.

Criminal Code Article 480 concerning receiving goods, which states that anyone who buys, stores, or sells goods obtained from criminal acts, including illegal subsidized fuel, can be subject to criminal penalties.

The public hopes that the authorities will immediately take firm action against individuals involved in the misuse of subsidized fuel.

With clear regulations, it is hoped that enforcement against these violations can be carried out effectively.
